MEETING WITH GOV CATAMCO AND BM MALALUAN

Kidapawan City – The Metro Kidapawan Water District headed by General Manager Stella M. Gonzales attended a meeting with Hon. Governor Nancy A. Catamco and Hon. Board Member Philbert G. Malaluan and Atty. Nikki Marasigan of the Province of Cotabato last March 30, 2020 at the Provincial Capitol Governors Office, 10:00 in the morning with MKWD Assistant General Manager for Operations Eng. Wilesper Lisandro M. Alqueza, Engineering, Construction Department Manager Ramil A. Condez, Planning and Division Manager Engr. Canuto A. Codilla and Actg. Information Officer Junvalh B. Arenal.

As courtesy to the Honorable Governor Catamco and Honorable Board Member Malaluan, MKWD as mandated by law and is contained in PD 198, as amended, declaring a national policy favoring local operation and control of Water Systems; authorizing the formation of Local Water Districts and providing for the government and administration of such districts in partnership with the Local Government Units under its jurisdiction. During the meeting it was cited the incoming creation of TASK FORCE TUBIG and extending financial assistance in a form of 8 cubic meter water truck and ground water source in Matalam.

It was raised during the meeting about Water Supply Problem of MKWD and Governor Catamco and Board Member Malaluan understands the situation currently facing by MKWD. Timely to say that the proposed Task Force Tubig to be created by the Province, the proposal of MKWD is to request the Office of the Province of Cotabato headed by Governor Catamco to purchase an 8 cubic meter Water Truck to be operated by MKWD. That Water Truck is one of the solutions being eyed to distribute supply of water to the affected areas with no water as a short term solution. For the long term solution of the problem, MKWD also ask help from the Province for Infrastructure to construct a water source facility, it was studied that MKWD found a potential source of water at the Poblacion of Matalam in the Municipality of Matalam, if Matalam areas, Patadon Areas and Amas Areas with water problems, it will resolve the problem if the Province merits the approval to help MKWD with materials or under the Infrastructure program with its 18M budget and the Hon. Governor made her commitment to look for a fund for the purpose itself and assures that she will provide the said budget and MKWD is the implementer.

As MKWD is committed to service, development and self-reliant in partnership with the Local Government Units under its jurisdiction. As its mandate to provide safe, potable and clean water not just that but also safe and drinkable water.
