MKWD Commemorates Women’s Month with Safe Spaces Act Symposium and Women’s Advocates Association Relaunch

KIDAPAWAN CITY – In a powerful tribute to National Women’s Month, the Metro
Kidapawan Water District (MKWD) dedicated this morning’s convocation, March 16,
2026, to reinforcing the importance of workplace safety, gender equality, and collective
advocacy. The morning began with the traditional flag ceremony and the solemn
recitation of oaths, setting a tone of patriotic duty and professional integrity for the week
ahead.

The convocation continued with a ceremony recognizing the dedication of several
personnel. The Administrative and Human Resource Department announced the
appointment of Jenevie Amoroso, Ju Bien Garcia, and Nikko Garcia as Casual
employees. Emman Dave Ofalsa also transitioned from Job Order to Casual status.
Additionally, Sandre Fina Fatima Ontal was recognized for her transition from Casual to
Permanent status.

In an effort to foster inclusive environments, the District hosted an educational symposium
on Republic Act No. 11313, also known as the Safe Spaces Act or the “Bawal Bastos”
Law. Guest speaker Atty. Genevieve Marie Dolores Brandares-Paulino, LLM, Dean of Cor
Jesu College of Law, shared her expertise on legal protection against gender-based
sexual harassment. Her presentation focused on the collective responsibility of all
employees to ensure that every public and professional space remains a secure
environment where dignity is upheld and harassment is never tolerated.

A highlight of the celebration was the Women’s Advocates Association meeting, where
a transformative new identity was revealed. The group officially announced its renaming
to the LILA Women’s Advocates Association. To complement this new chapter, the
association unveiled its official logo, designed by the logo-making contest winner, Mr.
Rench Lord Malicuban. The new branding symbolizes the association’s commitment to
championing the rights of women and maintaining a proactive voice within the MKWD
community.
